MoTown Legend Smokey Robinson Sings for New Jersey's Kids

Bill Cosby, Michael Jordan, Brad Pitt and President Bill Clinton all have 1 thing in common: they are all alumni of the Boys and Girls Club.

The average Boys and Girls club graduate is not a celebrity but is someone who has achieved a laudable level of success in education, athletics or as a dedicated member of the community. The Boys and Girls Club of New Jersey has a program called “Fund-a-Dream” to support the dreams of some individual boys or girls to achieve goals from learning to swim to attending Julliard.

To help fund this service, the Boys and Girls Club started a “Concert for Kids” 7 years ago. This year, the event, which is sponsored by Verizon, will feature Motown legend and B&G Club alumnus Smokey Robinson who will be singing his classics and taking attendees down a musical memory road.

By teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club, the event chair Sam Delgado of Verizon hopes that concert goers will be inspired to help these hopeful boys and girls pursue dreams they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to.

"Verizon believes that by investing in the highly successful educational programs and services of the Boys and Girls Clubs of New Jersey, the company makes a valuable contribution in developing New Jersey Youth into productive members of the communities that we serve."

The “Concert for Kids” promises to “really have a hold on” the audience and the Boys and Girls Club of New Jersey want to give 2 tickets away to a lucky reader for a chance to be part of the inspirational night. Just leave a comment in this post OR send me a Tweet and the tickets are yours!
