It's Labor Day Weekend!

The summer season is coming to a close and the kiddos are dragging their heels through the aisles of school supplies with tears of sadness (or maybe joy) that another school year is starting. Historically, Labor Day is a holiday to honor our hard-working citizens (even though there are still plenty of people hard at work for the rest of us), but it's also a chance for families to have one last hurrah of the summer and parents (mostly moms) to celebrate the return of a few extra hours of free-time in the day.

What are you doing this weekend? Need an idea? Check out what other New Jerseyans do for Labor Day:

My family has a ritual --we go to Outdoor World Lake & Shore Camping Resort in Ocean View, NJ (outside of Sea Isle City) for our last weekend at the shore every year. We've been doing this since 1997 and will continue this tradition for many years to come. -Yarissa, Pennsauken, NJ

Each Labor Day Weekend, I like to surprise my wife by choosing a bed and breakfast to stay for the weekend somewhere along the Jersey Shore. In the past, we visited Cape May and Spring Lake. This year, the surprise is a fabulous new B & B in Point Pleasant Beach called the Tower Cottage. I happened to be visiting someone on business a few weeks ago and saw Tower Cottage. When I stopped in to get more info, the people were very friendly and gave me a quick tour. It is totally refurbished and has to be one of the most beautiful B & B's I've ever seen. My wife is going to love it. Lots of fun things to do in Point Pleasant Beach too. Great restaurants, dinner cruise, sailing. Happy Labor Day!!!- an awesome husband from Morris County

For the 3rd year in a row I am running a Young Professionals Labor Day Picnic. We always do them in Morris County Parks and usually 80-100 Young Professionals come out. It's a great day for people who are new to NJ or for those who are looking to make new friends. Everyone brings something to share and we end up with a few tables packed full of food and drink. It's really a great time. - Laura Occhipinti, Founder and President of NJ Young Professionals

I miss NJ and Lake Pine! We use to attend Lake Pine Day Parade in Medford. We also did swim events, sand castle contests and so much more. They have a Facebook page too!-Deb Evans

If shopping is more your thing, check out the Jersey Shore, Jackson and Liberty Village Premium Outlets annual Labor Day Weekend Sale on Friday, Sept 4th - Monday Sept 7th. Shoppers will enjoy extra discounts on top of the already 25-65% off retail offered every day. Find great fall and back-to-school essentials for the whole family, plus last minute summer pieces!

When I was little, my parents would take us to The Land of Make Believe and now that I have my own children, I can continue the tradition! It's a great hidden gem of Northern NJ! - Veronica, Rockaway, NJ

I have a great idea...but it is geared towards adults. We do a Labor day Weekend Wine Tasting!-Janet, Freehold, NJ
