I don't know when or how I found out the Charles Lindbergh lived in Hopewell, NJ during the time of his son's "kidnapping," but what I do know is that many of the locals were not so sure it was a random incident. Despite the controversy that still surrounds the famous case, Lindbergh's estate is still alluring and conveniently nearby!
One weekend, Rob and I went open house hunting (as we do every now and then) and decided to head up to Lindbergh's house again, which is now a facility for juvenile offenders. The facility is named "Highfields" which was the name Lindbergh gave his estate when he had it built in the 30s.
The estate is nestled among foresty trees in the Sourland Mountains. It is not secluded, but anchored by neighbors and farms. Click on the links below for directions to the estate:
- From 31 S/Rt 202 S
- From Rt 518 West (from Montgomery)
- From Rt 518 E (from 31N), use link above and reverse first turn.
