The Super Bowl in New York or Philly?

I had an assignment for Event Planning class write a hypothetical proposal to have the Super Bowl in either New York or Philadelphia. I chose Philly for the mere reason that I thought New York is just way too populated and busy to have a week long affair. But the class was very mixed: pro-New York, anti-New York, pro-Philly, pro-Queens, etc. Some of the arguments that came up against New York were:

  • Parking situation around Giants Stadium-they already have overflow for regular games
  • The overload of people during Super Bowl week will displace too many New Yorkers
  • Security concerns-people will be turned away by fear
Arguments for New York:
  • New Yorkers are not strangers to big events and swarms of people coming in.
  • Largest police force in the PLANET!
  • It's New York-there is so much besides football to keep the VIPs busy
Arguments for Philly:
  • Small city, more room
  • Lincoln Field has tons of parking; public transportation feed right to the location
  • Close to NJ (Atlantic City) and New York
  • Old City and Penn's Landing ideal for entertaining
What do you think? If weather was NOT factor, would New York or Philadelphia be the more ideal for Super Bowl? *The super bowl will never be in the tri-state area or New England because of the weather in February.
