Artisan Jewlery: From metal to masterpiece

Wearing a piece of artisan designed jewelry will get you noticed.  While most people recognize a David Yurman or Tiffany & Co. piece, they will want to know the origin of the expertly handcrafted art that you wear. That's why I love shopping at jewelry boutiques: for the discovery of a new artist and his or her clever use of natural material.

At Objects of Desire in Chester, you'll find a collection of sophisticated and funky jewelry from designers like Erica Zap and Liz Palacios (shown below).  Farther south in Flemington, Attachments carries the eco-friendly jewelry line Alex & Ani and one of my favorite designers, metalsmith Sherry Tinsman of Bucks County (both shown below).

The common thread uniting these very diverse artists is metal.  Materials like brass, antique silver and gold, sterling silver and recycle metals are repurposed into one of a kind pieces for your jewelry box.

Clockwise from right: Liz Palacios Selva Orange necklace, $89, Alex & Ani St. Christopher's Bangle set, $108, Liz Palacios Selva Orange earrings, $36, Erica Zap Fan Leaf earrings, $50, Erica Zap Flower Cluster bracelet, $60, Sherry Tinsman Signature Flower Cuff, contact for pricing.
