Last night, Rob and I made our overnight trip to LBI for some seafood and fresh beach air. We also made our regular stop at our favorite ice cream shop.
Hands down, the best ice cream in LBI can be found at the Skipper Dipper. Located across the street from the ACME and The Beach Theater, the Skipper Dipper usually a line wrapped around their patio. But it doesn't matter how long you wait, it's worth it. With an efficient assembly line, you move through and get what you want without a pang of impatience.
With over 30 flavors of ice cream and 29 soft ice cream flavoring, the Skipper Dipper appeals to everyone, including the weight conscious, like myself. My usual is Non-Fat, No Sugar Added Vanilla Soft Ice Cream with Peanut Butter flavoring and Chocolate Sprinkles. They also have tons of toppings to choose from and the always favorite Mix-Ins. Something for the whole family.
Stop in after a movie or dinner. Or just go for a cool respite from the sun and beach. Whatever your reason, GO!

Dinner Recommendation for the Summer
This is not a recipe nor is it a restaurant review. It is more like a destination turned dining option.
I married into the summers at LBI lifestyle and really really like it. Rob's family belongs to the Little Egg Harbor yacht club, but neither of us have adopted the way-of-life to goes with it. What we have adopted was a weekly trip to LBI for fresh seafood dinner and crisp beachy air.
I realize that everyone doesn't have a house at LBI, but it doesn't have to be a sleep-over thing, nor does it have to be LBI. The point I am making here is that it does a psyche good to get out once a week (or maybe just once a month) over the summer and take an 1 to 1 1/2 hr drive out to your favorite beach to have some good seafood. Rob and I started doing it last year and we're going to take a drive down on July 3rd for the reasons I mentioned above.
If you do frequent LBI, or are planning to vacay there, here are some of the fish stops we hit:

- Engleside Inn, Hotel & Restaurant Engleside Ave. & Oceanfront , Beach Haven
- Daddy O's, 8th Street. & Long Beach Blvd Brant Beach
- M&M Steam Bar, Delaware Ave. and the Boulevard, Beach Haven Terrace
- Bistro 14, 9th and Bay Avenue, Beach Haven, NJ
In the morning, we stop at any bagel shop at 7:00ish. Rob has to be at work between 8:30 and 9:00 and the drive gets him there in perfect timing.
As I said before, it is worth the weekly or just monthly trips. Seafood is good for you and the fresh beach air is even better. I'm on my way out the door right now to go to LBI to celebrate our nephew Andrew's 5th birthday.
