The State is Hopping with Happenings!

School is back in session and what else is there to do than celebrate the start of the fun fall season. Here's a mix of events from around the state:

“A TOAST TO DENNIS” Wine Tasting: The Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial Fund will host its first annual Toast to Dennis, a food and wine tasting on September 12, 2009 in Rumson. Retired Army Colonel James Costigan, a resident of Freehold, NJ, has been tapped to chair the event committee. Guests will enjoy a catered menu by Grif's Seaside Catering along with wine sampling and a silent auction. Tickets are $100 per person and valet parking is available.
The Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial Fund was established in honor of Middletown resident Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II who was killed in the line of duty in 2005. His friends and family has held a run/walk called Run with Dennis for 2 years and raises money to support programs that assist wounded soldiers and their families. 8th annual JazzFeast in Princeton: Open-air festival features performances by some of the industry’s best jazz musicians and showcases cuisine from a selection of the area's finest restaurants. Sept 12, Noon-6pm in Palmer Square.

Pirate's Day in Barnegat: Day of entertainment, pirate-themed activities, a vendor and craft fair, and food cooked picnic-style by volunteer organizations. Sept. 12, 9am-4pm

Little House on the Prarie Harvest Festival, Millburn: The Papermill Playhouse launches their 09-10 season with a hoedown full of square dances, hay rides music, games and contests. Sept 12, 1pm-5pm

Oskar Shindler Performaing Arts Center Jazz Festival, West Orange: In it's 7th years, the jazz festival welcomes visitors for an open-air setting of world-class jazz entertainment complete with international food vendors, artisans and crafts, health spa center, and entertainment and activities for children. $10 for adults and $5 for seniors. Children are free. Sept 12-13, Noon thru 5pm

Family Music Fest, Alba Vineyard: Two local nonprofit organizations are hosting the second annual Family Music Fest to benefit families in need throughout northwestern New Jersey. The festival, sponsored by NORWESCAP and The Arc of Warren County, includes a full line-up of local bands playing rock, R&B, blue grass, reggae, New Orleans jazz and acoustic tunes, as well as activities for children and wine-tasting for adults. Sept. 13, Noon-6pm

Running of the Brides (and Grooms), Hamilton
: The Bridal Suite of Hamilton is sponsoring “The Running of the Brides (and Grooms)" at Hamilton Township’s Septemberfest, held in Veteran’s park. Competition and relay race of local, engaged couples. Women will wear tuxedos, while men will wear bridal gowns. Prizes include gift certificates to local Hamilton establishments, specialty wedding items and universal travel gift cards. Sept 13, 2:30pm

1920's County Fair at Fosterfields, Morristown:
The event features live farm animals, wagon rides, old-time games, music, food, tours of the 1920s farmhouse, and much more. The fair is great for families and individuals of all ages. Sept 13, Noon-5pm
