On Saturday August 29, twenty bakers from the Moorestown and Philly area will be vying for the title of Iron Cupcake Champ during The Kati’s Kupcakes Iron Cupcake Challenge being held at Green Apple Bistro in Moorestown. Attendees will go nuts for the coconut themed event that is raising money for The Food Bank of South Jersey.
Last month the inaugural challenge raised $2,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and had 54 bakers (that’s 54 cupcake varieties!), celebrity judges like the town mayor and an ABC anchorwoman, and the Phillies Mascot who rallied the crowd around this sugary sweet cause! This year’s celebrity judge is “Stink” Fisher, owner of the Pop Shop in Collingswood.
The creative genius behind this delectable monthly event is Kati Angelini, owner of Kati’s Kupcakes in Moorestown. With the popularity of cupcakes spreading from Hollywood to Anytown USA, Kati thought the challenge would be an exciting event to bring to the small Burlington County town.
“[The Iron Challenge] is tons of fun and a great way to bring together baking enthusiasts and cupcake lovers. Helping a worthwhile charity while enjoying cupcakes--what could be better!”
Kati’s cupcakes have made quite a stir in the area and in national magazines with Family Circle Magazine loving her Hawaii theme designs. The formally trained artist is also known for her banana butterscotch cupcakes (now my stomach is growling!) and fondant toppers.
“I incorporate my art degree with a love of baking to make cupcakes which are equally pleasing to the eye and the tummy!!!”
Kati’s Kupcakes truly are a work of art.
The Iron Cupcake Challenge will be held Saturday August 29 at 7pm at Green Apple Bistro, 73 E.Main Street Moorestown, NJ. Contestant entries are still available. Call Kati at 609-332-2172, email email@example.com or follow her on Twitter: @KatisKupcakes
