Dashboard flyers tend to just annoy me, but today I found an exception.
When I got to my car today after my first class of the day at Rider, I saw an ad for Captain Laundry, a laundry service out of Trenton that has college rates and plans for Rider and Princeton students. With a 2-day wash 'n' fold turnaround and affordable rates by semester, college students may find Captain Laundry an easier alternative to waiting for a free washer in the dorms. Not to mention, a lot easier than collecting quarters in a container the size of a pencil case. Arranging a pick up can even be done right from your computer by filling out an online form.
Rates are based on 10, 15, 20, and 25 pound orders and plans are separated into 13 week blocks or semesters. For example, for 1 semester of 10 lbs of clothes a week, you pay $148.49. That is about $11.50 per week or 46 quarters. If you're still not sold, thinking that you can spend way less doing it yourself, think of a few of these factors:
- You have to wait by your laundry in the dorm when you could be running an errand, visiting a friend, studying, or napping.
- You have to watch and make sure no one takes your detergent, your money, or worse yet-your clothes!
- You might have to lug your laundry to another dorm when the washers/dryers are all being used.
- The washers/dryers are not top of the line and will brake down.
- You have to find the time in your week to dedicate a few hours to laundry.
