What to pack for BlogHer?

Even though I can't go to BlogHer, I can still plan an outfit for a fashion starved attendee! Here's a post I put together for July 4th Party Fashion (only it never got published).


Every year when I was little, I participated in a July 4th bike decorating parade which involved red, white and blue streamers, balloons and flags draping our 10-speeds and appropriately coordinating outfits. When you're little, you can get away with overdoing the patriotic look, because that's what kids do. However, as an adult, dressing like the holiday isn't as cute anymore. So, then what do you wear to a 4th of July party?

Consider the following key factors: outside, heat, messy food, sparklers/fireworks. In other words: keep the outfit simple. DO work in 1 or 2 of the theme colors, but keep it simple and chic. It's often easiest to scour your closet for separates like white bottoms, a navy or black top, and silver accessories, but if nothing is working in your wardrobe, here is some inspiration:
